GEEK GOGGLE REVIEWS: FURY OF FIRESTORM THE NUCLEAR guy #1

Brandon Borzelli’s Geek Goggle Reviews

Fury of Firestorm #1
DC Comics
Van Sciver, Simone & Cinar

The reboot of Firestorm provides a extremely dense as well as comprehensive look into what this series will be all about. The book utilizes much of the previous history of both Firestorm incarnations as well as merges much of it together. To the seasoned visitor this provides some Easter egg-like moments. The new visitor gets a great introduction into the key characters, the origin story of the super-hero, a decent plot as well as set up for future issues. Overall, this is an entertaining checked out as well as worth inspecting out if you have any type of rate of interest in the character or in the creators.
The problem focuses on two areas: the poor guys as well as the great guys. The poor guys are essentially a black ops team that is seen killing off characters (including kids) in an attempt to gather information. ultimately this leads them to a scientist that then in turn provides up key info that leads the black ops team to the great guys.

The great guys are nothing more than high institution kids. Ronnie as well as Jason are total opposites as well as autumn into almost every high institution stereotype possible. Ronnie is the jock with an mindset while Jason is the nerdy journalist that feels like the world is sticking their nose at him. As if these stereotypes weren’t enough, throw in that one is black as well as other is white as well as it enables Jason to play the race card while Ronnie concerns his mom as to why they have no black friends. While these scenes assist to establish their motivations as well as it sets up the dispute between the two everything feels required to the point that I was rolling my eyes.

The book closes with not one, however two Firestorms. This differs from the previous versions of the character. To make things more fascinating we discover that the two Firestorms can really merge to make a monster Firestorm. It’s a decent hook for the next issue.

The artwork lusters at the end of the book particularly. Cinar brings some excellent line work to the book as well as he handles to make the two Firestorms unique in some subtle however efficient ways. The book is colored completely as the vibrant reds as well as yellows assist to truly draw out the drama of the character’s transformations. general this is a terrific story visually.

Firestorm is a niche character as well as he most likely always will be. This problem puts forth some extremely generic as well as predictable high institution youngsters into a circumstance where they ended up being nuclear men. It’s got a decent concept behind everything as they are in quest by some evil guy rather than just super villains. Overall, I liked the modifications to the character as well as I believe there is sufficient right here to keep a new visitor coming back for more. This is a great begin for Firestorm(s).
